Kryptobiose features a fictional portrait of an anemone extracting solitons of belief in cryptobiosis from the acoustic storage medium of global waters and translating the streamed creed into dominant language.
Inspired by texts by dance critic Kim Namsoo, the novel Moby Dick, Artauds' 'Theatre of Cruelty', whale myths in religious concepts and the sound research of Roger S. Payne, the work searches for the god of whales, a representation of religions as prostheses of society, and models of egalitarian communication.
In the video, Tardigrada are stylized as idols for changing metabolic parameters to the point of interrupting participation in the higher-level metabolic processes of the planet and the universe, and thus become the living god of whales. In an algorithmic approach to heart rate reduction and bodily alienation, sleep is to be emphasized as a socio-economic strategy and an image is to be found of the beauty of the break in all its vulnerability.
