I finally got around to doing the 3rd installment of my “fotocronicas” slide show series. For the longest time I have been wanting to take photos of this historic downtown Santiago shop, but I have not been able to find the time. So the other day after doing some errands in Santiago Center, I stopped at my favorite fried empanada joint, had 2 fried cheese empanadas and then shuffled over to the 50 plus year old dress shirt establishment “Camiseria Carrera”, where they kindly allowed me to take some shots and ask a few questions for about 30 minutes. It is unbelievable that you can get to know somebody else’s life story in such a short time.
I feel it is important to visually register these shops existence; since we do not know how much longer they will be able to survive the dominating world of retail malls.
