Another clip made as part of my 2010 Higher National Diploma in Moving Image (Film/TV), at Bray Institute of Further Education (BIFE). I got an 'A' in the documentary module.
Rough cuts taken from Sonny Condell 25min student documentary. Please excuse low resolution upload, taken from DV master.
This longer clip tells of Sonny Condell's origins in rural Wickow, and how he first met Leo O'Kelly, who in turn was coming up the ranks of showbands and getting into the folk scene in Dublin's coffee houses of the late 1960s. Featuring some really nicely recorded guitar by Sonny. If only it was in HD! Student shooting equipment...
Nonetheless, I have a proposal to remake this documentary in HD; Tír na nOg being part of the Irish music scene which sprung from Dublin music clubs of late 1960s and early 1970s. It's a great story with some magical music.
