kuhrmeier.com -- Moviestorm users know it all too well: the mountains. Basically it’s more a huge sinkhole clutching the Moviestorm grid. Luckily, Moviestorm recently introduced the terrain editor allowing the filmmaker to create her/his own landscape easily.
WHAT’S THE CATCH?
Though it is easy to create a landscape it is yet very time-consuming. To start from scratch you’ll have to tear down that sinkhole in the first place. The trickiest thing that gets in the way creating your own landscape is the stiff maneuverability of the camera. Especially if you work on the edges the camera easily snaps back to the center. Did God also had to face such obstacles...?
WHAT’S THE SOLUTION?
Why do everything by hand if we have computers nowadays? The soon-to-be-released AVK Terrain Generator will do the job for you. Upload an image which will define the height of your new terrain. Lots of different settings give you all the control you need to create a landscape to your likings. Best of all, the sky and vegetation can be added automatically. Instead of spending hours on shaping a landscape you can concentrate on filmmaking.
COMING THIS SPRING
The AVK Terrain Generator is an online service and will be part of avagar.de/moviestorm. Parts of the website are rewritten currently. Though it’s still fully functional the new features will be available with the completion of version 2 -- which should be spring 2013. You’ll find more about the upgrade in the developer blog: urlgui.de/developerblog.
