In this quick video, I'm going to answer a question from one of my Facebook fans, who asked:
What are the three top things ANYONE should do to improve their search engine rankings?
This is a great question, and SEO is that one thing that so many professional photographers are tripping up on - mainly because they mistakenly think it's a lot more complicated or technical than it really is.
The first thing every photographer should do to improve their search engine rankings is, of course, to identify the keyword phrases they want to actually rank for. You can do this using the Google keyword research tool, for example, and making sure that you localize the keywords by including the name of the city or area that you serve.
Next, be sure to include those primary keywords in the title text for the web page, and placing the most important words are near the beginning of the title.
The third essential tip would be to display your studio address on every page of the website. If you work from home, and don't want to give out your home address, then just mention the city and state or region at the very least. You can put this information in the header or footer of the page, and don't forget to include it in any testimonials you have from clients in the areas you serve.
That brings me to the end of this quick tip - if you want to get more from me about how to market your photography business online, then head over to Zenologue.com/blog/about/ and join my mailing list - I'll send you extra tips each week you can use that you can't get anywhere else.
