Rajgir or Rajgrih, a timeless eternal land. Lord Buddha and Lord Mahavir walked this land. The Rajgir mountain looks like the back of a lying down gentle cow. It has the Veerayatan cave where Lord Mahavir meditated. The ropeway takes one up or down in 20 minutes. We can walk up also, in 2 hours, and walk down in 20 minutes.
It is the place where the first Buddhist grand council of 1000 monks was held, shortly after Lord Buddha's Maha Nirvana, On this place a grand pagoda has been built, displaying the Buddha in the 4 poses of 1.Dharma Chakra Parivartan 2. Sleeping restfully 3. Blessing all 4. Guiding us to the path.
There is also a huge bell, and a beautiful Japanese Buddhist temple, where the mantra Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is sung devoutly with the gong. sgi-uk.org/index.php/buddhism/nam-myoho-renge-kyo
