The Infoasaid project initially started with a call from a small number of Humanitarian aid agencies and media development organisations for more effective communication with crisis-affected communities as well as equipment and skills to support this aim. Over 2 years, Infoasaid has worked to find solutions and improve communication with crisis-affected communities both in terms of preparedness and response. For example, the project developed pilot communication projects in Kenya with ActionAid, World Vision and Save the Children and with IRC and Save the Children in Somalia. Infoasaid deployed its team of experts to support partner agencies with information needs and access assessments, project design, training, implementation, monitoring and learning. The project developed an e-learning course, a message library and mapped the media in a number of crisis-prone countries. It also worked with IFRC to mainstream beneficiary communications into their operations.
