All three of our stops this week are at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill. There is just so much to do here that we had to extend our stay! We will learn not only about the history of America’s largest and best-known communal society but we also get a taste for their way of life. In addition to eating the beloved food at Shaker Village, I also learn how to make a Shaker broom and saddle a horse for a wagon. You would think that would be enough to get a sense for how they lived but you know me… I wanted to take it a step further and really get into character!
We also get to see first hand why Harvest Fest is the best way to kick off the fall season! With loads of demonstrations and beautiful fall foliage, this season just might become your favorite. And as if that were not enough to convince you, Shaker Village is introducing brand new Autumn events like Fall on the Farm Weekends and Spirit Strolls to the Graveyard. So put Shaker Village on your bucket list for educational family fun!
