The UN Summer Academy was launched in August 2012 at the UN Campus in Turin, Italy where the UN System Staff College has its headquarters. The programme was built around a one-week introductory curriculum, grounded in the Secretary-General's Five Year Action Agenda as well as the Outcome of the 4th High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness (29 Nov-1 Dec 2011 Busan), followed by a second week composed by three specific clinics focused on practical implications.
The event was graced by contributions of such distinguished speakers as Sir Richard Jolly, Honorary Professor, IDS, University of Sussex, HRH the Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, Mr Peter Bakker, President of the World Business Council on Sustainable Development, with a group of participants representing different parts of the UN system and partners.
