Governor Jay Nixon wants to accept the federal government's offer to pay for an expansion of the Medicaid roles by up to 300,000. Uncle Sam is offering to pick up the tab for three years and then says, after that, Missouri only pays 10% of the bill.
Legislative Republicans say "no way" and want the federal government to cut back spending instead of offering to spend more on anything.
Jennifer Bersdale from Missouri Healthcare for All wants the state to accept the offer and expand the Medicaid coverage. Former State Representative Carl Bearden of United for Missouri is the former chair of the state House Budget Committee. He says it's not as good of a deal as it sounds.
