Youngsters from Birmingham's Avondale Elementary School recently got a break from the classroom to have some very important health screenings. A team of professional students from UAB's School of Dentistry, Optometry, Health Professions, Nursing and Medicine worked side by side looking inside mouths, taking blood pressure screenings and checking eyes. This outreach clinic is funded by the Dentaquest Foundation, which allows UAB students to get real-world experience in their fields.
