In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark's. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray that your soul will be strengthened by the good news about God's grace, love, and forgiveness to us through his Son, Jesus Christ.

Season of the Church Year:
We are presently in the church season called Epiphany. The word Epiphany means “to reveal.” The season extends from January 6 through the Sunday before Ash Wednesday. During the Epiphany season, our worship focuses on the many ways that Jesus revealed himself as our Savior, especially in his ministry, miracles, and message.

Our congregation also operates a Lutheran school for students in pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade. If you would like to learn more about our church or school, please contact one of our pastors, the principal, or another representative of our church or school. They would be happy to assist you.

Focus of Today's Service:
The Epiphany season concludes each year by observing Jesus' transfiguration. In this unique event from Jesus' life, he revealed his divine glory to three of his closest disciples just before he began his journey to the cross, here he dies to win our forgiveness from sin. As we stand on the doorstep of the season of Lent, when we follow Jesus' journey to the cross, it is only appropriate for us to remember his transfiguration today. The final glimpse of Jesus' glory reminds us that though we will see Jesus' stark humility during weeks ahead, he is still the divine and all-powerful Son of God.
