Bill was born Castor,Alberta on December 31,1921.
He joined the Calgary Tanks and travelled overseas and participated in the raid on Dieppe,or "Operation Jubilee" on August 19th, 1942.
On that fateful day, their Churchill tank threw a track on the beach. He watched as his fellow Canadian,British and Americans were gunned down on the beach. Not long after, he and his crew were forced to surrender to the Germans. He watched as allied Spitfires strafed their own men in the town.He was held prisoner at Stalag 8-B until the end of the war.
