If I had known that hooping was going to become one of my great Loves, I would have marked down the day I took my first spin. But, alas, I do not know my actual hoopiversary. Was it the Halloween party where I discovered the hostess's hoop on the lawn, stripped out of my cumbersome cupcake costume to the leotard beneath, and spun the night away oblivious to the other revelers? I remember shyly picking up a hoop a beautiful girl had abandoned by the fireside at a drum circle. Which experience was first and when was the hoop seed first planted? I don't know. But I do know that I bought my first (and eventually second) hoop from Lara Eastburn for my 31st birthday. And as I'm about to be 36...well, let's call it my 5 year hoopiversary. So the other day, I dedicated my practice to bodyrocking with my very first (oft re-taped) hoop. You can probably tell by my crazy hair do that I hadn't planned on posting this, but I just had to share. It was so much fun playing with inner/outerspace and feeling the big heavy hoop rolling around my waist. I remember someone on hooping.org saying that no one posts bodyrocking videos these days. If you haven't waist hooped in a while, get your old heavy hoop out and take it for a spin. I found it so refreshing!
The song is Help Me by Joni Mitchell and you can get it at your local record shop...and itunes.
