I miss Hawaii every single day and wanted to put together a quick time lapse of a few of the places I visited from my trip back in January. We visited Waimea Bay Beach on the North Shore and saw some of the most massive waves I have ever seen! It was so rough out there that the lifeguards were holding people back. This is the place that has the famous rock that you can jump off of - we had plans to jump off again this year, but the water was just too intense! I'll have to wait for my next trip!
There are a few different sunsets from Ala Moana that I got to capture, but my favorite was definitely being able to watch the sun reflect off the shallow water. I still can't believe that this is a sight people get to see every day - and it's right across the street from the mall!
We took a trip around the south east side of the Island and stopped off at many of the lookout points to see the amazing turquoise and light blue water. It had been raining on and off, but we decided to stick it out and stop off at Makapuu beach. It was such a sight to see the clouds flying overhead against the dark mountains and endless blue skies. You can barely see the lighthouse in the far corner, but the color of the water is what really made this place memorable.
I also went to Waikiki a few times to get a few expansive shots of the beaches in front of the hotels. I took them from along this long pier that's towards the end of Kalakaua. You can see some crabs walking along the rocks in the shot of the water at the end of the pier. I'll never forget how clear the water was! I came back later in the night with my girlfriend and we hung out by the gondola of another pier to get the night shot of Waikiki. There's so much going on in that shot with the clouds flying by, the stars in the far distance, the business of the street along the Kalakaua, and the lights reflecting off the clear water - it was definitely my favorite of the trip!
I hope to come back in May and do another shoot and get some more night shots next time.
All shots were taken on a Canon 6d as individual RAW photos, edited in Photoshop, and stitched together in Quicktime - with the exception of 2 shots that were filmed.
