House of Knives is a short film about the iconic French poets Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine. Turning their backs on respectable society, the two poets moved to London in 1873 to live a life of poverty, poetry, and absinthe. Witnessed through the eyes of a contemporary film producer, House of Knives follows the turbulent, and often violent, affair of these two men.

Produced by Poet in the City in partnership with University College London, and written by acclaimed poet and screenwriter David Harsent, House of Knives promotes the new Rimbaud and Verlaine Foundation at No 8 Royal College Street in Camden, once famously occupied by these two French poets.
