Deforestation leads to erosion of the soil: without trees the rain, wind and sun directly harm the grounds. Trees capture the rain and at the same time limit the loss of water through condensation.
Tree Evaporisation is a short film about the importance of trees for fertile grounds. In an open sandy area a silhouette of a tree is drawn with water. Gradually the drawing evaporates because it is exposed to the sun and the wind.
The film was made at art center Soleil d'Afrique in Mali, during a one week residency initiated by Make a Forest, a Dutch collaborative art and design project that unites sustainable awareness and creativity.
