The first entry in our ongoing roda roundups series: coverage of the very first roda held by Clube do Choro UK way back in March, 2012!
This video was filmed when we held our monthly events at the Globe pub in Baker Street. Highlights include a guest appearance by Marcos Tannuri from Rio de Janeiro, who plays cavaquinho; and Cristiano Fischer, who plays the seven-string guitar.

Clube do Choro UK is a London-based initiative to promote the Brazilian musican genre known as choro in the United Kingdom. To this end we hold monthly events at the Cecil Sharp House near Camden Highstreet on the last Sunday of most months. Special guest musicians are often in attendance, sometimes direct from Brazil!
Choro is a traditional and lively form of instrumental music, blending many traditions including western music and jazz. The performers sit around in a circle, a 'roda', where they can maintain eye contact and facilitate improvisation. Anyone is welcome to bring an instrument and participate regardless of instrument played or skill level! Scores are available on our website!
In addition to the evening's focus on choro, we end each evening with a blazing roda de samba, dancing is strongly encouraged!!!
We hope you see you around!
We are what we share!!!
