Documentary about Section 59 of the New Zealand Crimes Act (the so called "Anti-Smacking Bill") which was amended in 2007 to remove the ability of parents to hit their children. There is currently (until 21st August) a referendum to repeal the legislation.
Produced, written, filmed and edited by me as part of an assessment for a Diploma in Television Production at the Otago School of Media.
UPDATE: 87.6% of New Zealanders voted "No" to the question "Should a smack as part of good parental correction be a criminal offence in New Zealand?" with only 54% of the nation turning out to vote.
