In this sculpture series titled Europa 2012 the artist utilizes the classical art concept of folding fabric. He uses wire mesh as self-supporting armature in order to create forms that engage the least amount of structure that will hold color and shape to produce the aesthetic experience. There is no intention of representational imaging other than capturing the impress of his hands to organize the crimps and furls. This process makes the method and materials co-dependent. The sculptures interact with celestial events, sunlight and shadows that move through the day and also shift incrementally throughout the seasons. A video portrait by Isabel Barton.
