This project “snowballed”. A good friend from college days (Gerry Macken) introduced me to Sarah Corina: She's bass guitarist in the band “Striplight”. She played me some of her band's music – and subsequent conversation led to me being asked to direct/animate a video for “No Search/No Entry” for the band. At this point I consulted/begged help from my good friend Ellen Kleiven. The band had clear initial ideas about preferred visual influences. Both Ellen and I had ideas of our own which, thankfully, tied in with band's 'wish-list'. I storyboarded/laid out the scenes. Ellen animated the geometric shapes, I animated the characters and we both filmed/directed the live-action footage of the band. Fabrice Langelier worked on scan and colour – as did Ellen and I. Jim Andrews (yojimbolfims) composited and edited the live-action and some of the character animation – and edited the video. Tim Smith composited some of the character animation. Jonathan Klahr composited a lot of my Character Animation and virtually all of Ellen's Flash Animation. I was so pleased with Jonathan's work that I immediately asked him if he'd work on another project (about one area of my hometown) that I was just beginning around halfway through production on this 'promo'. That Jonathan said “Yes” - as with Ellen, and all of the people who do contribute on projects of mine – is (still) something of a miracle.
