In July 2009, Mike, Kevin, Daniel and I went on a nine day & six state roadtrip thru Appalachia. We started in Atlanta and toured the Coca-Cola Museum and then visited Stone Mountain and saw the huge sculpture of General Robert E. Lee & pals.
We then went north to Chattanooga, TN and visited several civil war battlefields and Lookout Mountain where we toured "Rock City" and underground to Ruby Falls.
Then we traveled east thru the Great Smokey Mountains on the famed Blue Ridge Highway to Asheville, NC where we toured the Biltmore House and estate, the largest private estate in America.
We then traveled northwest thru Knoxville, TN to the "Museum of Appalachia", Cumberland Falls, and eventually arrived to Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky. This is the largest and longest cave system in the world. We then rented Canoes and traveled eight miles down the Green River. The same Green River in the CCR Song. We then traveled north to Fort Knox and Abe Lincoln's Log Cabin.
We then finished out our roadtrip by driving south thru Nashville to Memphis. In Memphis we visited Graceland, Sun Studios, Civil Rights Museum, and Beale Street, the home of the Blues. Great Trip...ya gotta check out Beale Street, it needs to be on everyone's "Bucket List".
