"I shop therefore I am", Barabara Kruger
This video is a critique of consumerism and an homage to Emile Zola.
The video shows an Asian family on a Saturday shopping spree.
Some of the chosen objects are bought in large quantities thus implying that they will be presents for the family back home - where the very same goods are probably being produced under appalling conditions in the sweatshops.
With globalisation the choice of low cost goods in particular has increased to the limits of our own personal capacity to distinguish between what we need, what we like and what we aspire.
