It is on one of the most fearsome seas known to navigators – the North Atlantic – that Mylene will cross the 2700 nautical miles (5000 km) that separate Halifax in Canada from Lorient in France.
it is by rowing, alone, that Mylene will accomplish this crossing that no canadian, nor american has done before her. It will take her around 100 days to achieve this exploit, during which she will confront cold temperatures and 12 metre waves. Winds of up to 100 km/h will also cross her path.
Alone and unassisted on the ocean, Mylene will spend her days rowing of course, but also observing the marine environment of which she will become a part of. She will be sharing her observations and photos with the public by way of blogs and social media, and raising funds for the David Suzuki Foundation.
