This is a short project I put together for my friend Cameron Dewitt (camerondewhitt.com/) to help his kickstarter project along the mid-way hump. Voiceover styling provided my friend Blew Lewis. I wanted to explain a bit of the dark history of this instrument. The banjo is often associated with a "redneck/backwoods" sound, but it actually comes from Africa and wasn't played by white men unless the were wearing blackface make up, in Minstrel shows. But now banjos appear on Grammy Award winning albums. After discussing the banjo's history we get to quickly talk about what it is made of and how its drum (stretched skin) like body is different from other stringed instruments with hollow bodies. We eventually get to the promotion of the new album by Cameron DeWhitt. But now people know more about the banjo than they did before they watched this video."
