The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak - Mark 14:26-52
Delivered by Aaron Bauer in a Gospel of Mark series on February 17, 2013 at Faith Church, Kent WA
What if you got to be Jesus’ closest friend on earth? Would you stand up for him and stand beside him? When I’m honest with myself and my track record I come face to face with my failure as his friend. In Jesus’ grief and agony his closest friends let him down. Jesus knew they would leave him and made a way for their restoration and resurgence as a force to be reckoned with. If your talk is bigger than your walk and your heart’s desires are more inspiring than your follow through I have Good News for you.
How confident are you that you would be faithful to Jesus in a tough situation?
Can you share an example of a time when you were faithful? And when you weren’t?
Do you often rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to encourage and sustain you? What does that look like?
What encourages you about Jesus’ humanity in this passage?
What do your friends mean when they say, “God is Love”? How does that match up with the Bible?
