Last Friday we rallied 30 troops to take the day off and venture to Snow Summit, one of Southern California’s ski resorts, to shred the day away.
People scored their spot at the Employee Ride Day by winning one of the many online employee-website contests.
Roll call was at 6:00 a.m. at Oakley HQ, where breakfast was set up to fuel the shredders before everyone headed out for a day of skiing/snowboarding. The bus was packed, the crew loaded in, and Matty Swanson provided Oakley snow movies to pump everyone up on the two-hour journey to Snow Summit.
It was a perfect 45º day without a cloud in the sky. Everyone grouped up and took over the mountain – Some cruising, a few racing comrades on the boarder cross course, and others hitting the park to show off their skills.
At lunch, the Oakley family gathered in a private dining area on the rooftop deck right on the hillside. Everyone feasted on BBQ lunch, snacks and drinks before heading back out.
At 4:00 p.m. it was roll call at the bus, and there were enough drinks and pizza to go around to nourish everyone after a full day of skiing/snowboarding. There was no shortage of entertaining stories the entire ride back to HQ.
