Evening Birds and People at a Industrial Pool on a main road in Ras al Khamaih, United Arab Emirates.
Each evening I visited this pool which was used by water lorries to fill up. The pool itself was frequented by flocks of gulls and black-winged stilts but the spill over water flowed down into a grassy area, which attracted Snipe, Sandpipers and greenshanks.
House Crows and Mynas came in the evening to drink and wash and resident Green Bee-eaters hawked around the edge of the rocky track.
What I found interesting was the number of people who stop to enjoy the avian spectacle and film it on their mobile phones. A celebration of urban birds on a pretty ugly site.
