"The Hungry Ghost" – the story of one man’s early professional success, followed by a complete and comical personal collapse and, as a direct result of that unraveling, his creation of a long-running commercial and critical solo-show success. That success is The Buddha Play which is the life of the Buddha assembled from the original texts and the man is, probably not surprisingly, me.
This new piece is a funny, candid, unbelievable (though true) portrayal of the misadventures of the self-deprecating Jewish guy behind the The Buddha Play. It deals with themes of success, satisfaction, and ego and is a prequel and counterpoint to The Buddha Play. But The Hungry Ghost gets personal - it is a down and dirty spiritual adventure that pulls no punches.
