Worried about an Elefriend?
The Ele struggles from time to time and he knows that some of his friends do, too. But together, we can find people who will listen, and places to go to for help. If you see someone posting, it makes such a difference if you respond. Remember how good even the smallest gesture felt when you reached out before? Elefriends remember, because they’ve been there, too. We all understand what it’s like to be lonely, anxious or low. Listening to an Elefriend and talking about what helped you cope could also help them. Encouage them to keep talking to supportive people in their lives, and to be gentle on themselves.
But sometimes, it’s all too much. And if you think that they could do with some urgent support, then suggest that they could contact the Samaritans, call 999 or go to their nearest accident and emergency department. There’s lots more information on the Mind (mind.org.uk) website about what to do in a crisis.
And while it’s very valuable to help others, please look after yourself too, and speak up if you’re feeling upset.
So let’s keep looking out for each other. Why not ask the Elefriends how they’re feeling today?
