BEHIND THE SCENES - KRISTIAN AADNEVIK - AUTUMN/WINTER 2013 SHOW
Running with a daring autumn/winter 2013 collection, Kristian Aadnevik is showcased during London Fashion Week at 21.30 on Sunday 17th February at The Royal Horseguards.
A departure to the Medieval era sets the tone for the collection in which power and beauty are central themes and the horse image is focal. Taking inspiration from its physical force and detailed armoury, Aadnevik is able to juxtapose the dark with the romantic and feminine. Driving the collection is the idea that the strength and power embodied by the horse are imparted to the female wearing the creations.
“Four things greater than all things are: Women and Horses & Power and War.”- Rudyard Kipling
Aadnevik’s designs embrace bold cuts, clean lines and strong materials but they too, primarily exude sensuality. Toscana shearling, exotic leather, zips and silver studs compliment the silk and velvet, creating a bold yet feminine look. Using period lace, Aadnevik maintains the intricate detailing of embossed armour and adds strength with leather. Revealing flesh and exposing exquisite embellished details, the designs are desirable and powerful.
Colour combinations add another contrasting dimension. The vibrant blue of the horse print chiffon compliments the freedom of the material, and livens its appearance. Equally the nude and pale fabrics soften the typical dark tones of navy blue and black.
The Autumn/Winter looks are particularly reflective of the Kristian Aadnevik brand and the designer’s admiration for independent women. “I like women to be ambitious, driven and strong. This collection crusades the seductive heroines of the Middle Ages”
