In October, Executive students from Mexico, Canada, USA and Brazil worked together for 9 full days in the 2nd international session of the Americas MBA program. Classes on Strategy for Emerging Countries and on Corporate Social Responsibility were taught by FIA professors, and students visited Natura and Liga Solidária, ( the Solidarity League ) to get a real feel for the issues discussed.
At Natura the students heard from the strategy director and saw how an exceptionally successful company that is strongly focussed on the wellbeing of all its stakeholders, and specially associates, indigenous community suppliers and clients crafted a strategy and products to promote wellbeing profitably.
The Solidarity League CEO presented to the group how a leading NGO has evolved over ninety years of social support activities, rebranding itself and professionalizing its management with support from FIA’s CSR program of Emba alumni consulting for NGOs.
At FIA, seven invited speakers from industry made presentations and participated in case discussions, and various meetings were held regarding ten consulting projects that international student teams are conducting in companies from the four countries.
As getting a complete country experience is part of the challenge, eating a churrasco, (barbecue), dancing at a Samba club and watching a football match among thousands of cheering supporters, were some of the additional activities!
In all, a great learning experience, new friendships, business networks and a lot more international insights were gained by all.
