Richard and Tanya Burkholder are the owners of Spinreel Dunebuggy, a popular ATV rental shop in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.
If investors decide to build a proposed coal export terminal in Coos Bay, coal trains will pass about 100 feet away from the Burkholder's home and business.
Richard and Tanya have both lived in coal country in Colorado, and think coal exports could help Coos Bay. They say tourism is the base of the local economy, and they would like to see growth in other areas. They believe a a coal terminal could bring much needed investment, ship traffic, and well paying jobs to Oregon's South Coast.
