"... manages to make the bass fill the space most people need a band for." - Scene & Heard
"... a genuine assortment of real songs expressing a solid songwriting talent. This combination of a killer slap/tap style, delicate chordal harmonies and an acute sense of melody makes Single Bass a must." - Overall
A little sampler of Single Bass songs live. We didn't plan in advance to make this video - Keith brought his camera and said on the day did I mind him experimenting, and later he sent me half a dozen snippets that had come out OK. Most of them weren't a whole song, but I thought they'd still be good to show people who were curious about Single Bass. So I edited together bits of three contrasting songs to make this.
The gig where I'm playing was Wovenfest, a one-day family-friendly festival which was my main project of the early part of 2012. As well as the music, we had books to browse, a children's area (with toy dinosaurs!), a crafts table, co-operative board games, a stall from Amnesty International, a "carbon footprint of your food" game, and a Health At Every Size stall complete with "Yay Scales" :-) It was a lovely day.
NOTE: this is a second version of this video. The content is basically the same as the first iteration, but first time round the aspect ratio came out wrong, due to (a) iMovie/Quicktime bother, (b) me not understanding pixel ratios yet :-) The editing of this second one was done on OpenShot, on Ubuntu 12.04.
