I spent last night at The Bungalow, a very cool bar/club in Santa Monica. Unlike Hollywood clubs, it appears to be legal to enjoy oneself in Santa Monica. And people smile there even before they get wasted. I wanted to capture that carefree vibe.
This video shows the low light advantage of using a Metabones Speed Booster. This was a very dimly lit venue, and my NEX-5n had no problem delivering an image.
Everything shot with a Nikon 50mm f/1.4 AIS. Old lenses like this are less contrasty than the new ones, which helps when shooting with an overly contrasty camera like the NEX-5n. Plus the old Nikon is considerably smaller than newer, autofocus lenses like the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4. This helps me blend in and catch people's unaware reactions.
