How does a restaurant manager plan to raise awareness for the leading cause of infant deaths? He plans on running across Mississippi!

Every 4 1/2 minutes a child is born with an abnormality in the U.S. Sadly, general public knew very little about these conditions until Shawn's Anomaly was organized in 2012 with a mission to provide education, hope, and help to families affected by congenital anomalies.

Shawn's Anomaly educates the public and funds medical research in hopes to reduce the statistic that 1 in 33 children are born with an abnormality. Now amateur athletes from all over the world are using their endurance races to raise awareness for the organization's mission

When Greg Cox, a restaurant manager from Florence, MS, started running seven years ago, it was to better himself for his family. Now after several events including 3 marathons, he hopes to provide inspiration to children and their parents to make healthier life choices. He heard about Shawn's Anomaly through Newton Running's Facebook page and felt inclined to apply for the sponsored iDO! Fab 5 endurance team. He never expected to be selected.

To his surprise, Greg received an email explaining he was selected to join four other endurance athletes from all over the nation to be a part of the iDO! Fab 5. The 5 athletes are sponsored by several national companies like Bluefin Apps, Newton Running Shoes, and yurbuds to become ambassadors for the mission through their endurance events. Most are doing marathons or Ironman triathlons, but Greg felt that those events were not big enough for such a huge issue.

Greg decided that the best way to raise awareness was to run across the great state of Mississippi. He thought about running from South to North, but his son convinced him that going from North to South would be better so he could jump into the Gulf of Mexico after he was done.

Greg wants your help to complete the journey. A challenge like this takes an emotional toll on a inspiring athletes, and he knows that 10,000 likes from new friends on his Facebook page, Mile after Mile, will give him the encourage he needs to complete the journey while raising awareness for a great organization. As soon as he gets the likes, the journey begins.
