An interactive surface computing platform that enables immersive interaction between the real and digital worlds.
We created the INNOSTAND which is a RFID based table with touch screens that can provide people with digital content about the real world objects that lie on the surface of this device once they take them into their hands (in other words lift objects from the surface).
How does it work?
We implemented a custom designed RFID (radio frequency identification) scheme under the surface of a table. This scheme is set to scan for RFID labeled objects only a few centimeters above the surface of our device.
Once a RFID tagged object is taken, that is lifted from the surface, it becomes out of range for our RFID scanner and this is how we precisely know which object has been taken.
In a fraction of a second after the object is lifted, a digital content associated with that object is shown on a touch screen (and/or to an external bigger screen) where further tasks can be performed. If multiple objects are taken - a list of those is shown.
