I. The Gospel means -- People over Freedoms (vv.13-16)
Lovingly, willingly limit behavior to not hurt someone Jesus died for
II. The Gospel means -- Relationships over Food (vv. 17-18)
See God’s Kingdom in fruit of the Spirit not culinary delights
III. The Gospel means -- Faith over All (vv. 19-23)
Convictions drive actions
“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery” (Galatians 5:1)
A new perspective
• Is there a difference between not stumbling someone and not offending them?
• If you abstain publically from a non-sinful behavior, do you need to abstain privately?
• Aren’t we already acceptable in Christ, or do we need to do something (v.18)?
• How is faith related to behavior?
