On February 11, 2013, a topping out ceremony was performed for the new Chesapeake Energy Natural Gas Compression Training Center on the OSU Institute of Technology campus.
In building construction, topping out is a rite of passage held when the last beam is placed at the top of a building. A tree or leafy branch is placed on the topmost beam, and it is hoisted to its permanent location at the highest point of construction.
