"Accelerators for neutrons"
D J S Findlay, ISIS Accelerator Division, RAL, STFC
Abstract:
Accelerators are used to produce neutrons for many different purposes - including science, technology, energy, security, and medicine. The talk will describe the challenges of accelerator production of neutrons, particularly for the FAFNIR project, a practical source of 14-MeV-like neutrons for assessing radiation damage effects in materials for fusion power, and for upgrades to ISIS, currently the world's leading spallation neutron source in terms of science output.
