My name is Anthony "Amp" Elmore. I live in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1990 I traveled to Nairobi, Kenya to Premier my self made movie "The Contemporary Gladiator." People in Kenya treated me like a long lost family member, with the most highest respect. While on Safari at the Massai Mara plains in Kenya the "Spirit of my Ancestors" engulfed my body and I found myself crying tears. I made a promise to my ancestors that I would tell the 'true story of Africa in America. For over a decade I took groups to Africa. In 1992 I met then Kenya President Moi. In 1994 I met a Kenyan woman. While we are no longer married we have at the time of this posting have a 14 year old son who is half Kenyan.
In 1998 I traveled to Ghana and I entered the African Import business. For over a decade I did business in Africa and we designed more products for a contemporary America then perhaps any person in the world. We created the 1st "All African Home in America. youtube.com/watch?v=h16BWnl_SCg We designed a Mud Cloth Tuxedo for President Obama that was accepted by the White House and President Obama sent us a thank you note. We spent over two decades working on our "African Mission." In 2010 me with my Congressman Steve Cohen met with then Kenya Ambassador Peter Ogego. Ambassador Ogego welcomed our ideas. In 2011 changed Kenya Ambassadors. The new Ambassador Elkanah Odembo shut the door in our face and his assistant called me a "Crazy American." We had over 23 years dealing with not only Kenya but we dealt with Africa. While it may be difficult for anyone to understand, however "The Spirit of the Late Kenyan labor Leader" Tom Mboya came into my heart. I wrote Kenya Ambassador Odembo and told him that his shutting the door in my face violates "The Spirit of Tom Mboya." We were heartbroken and sent a letter to South Africa Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool. Ambassador Rasool gave me a formal meeting on October 1, 2012. The South African Ambassador Rasool welcomed the idea and he promised to get back with me.
In February of 2013 Rev. Okoth Otura a Kenyan minister looking up Tom Mboya on You Tube for Black History month saw our presentation. It was incredulous to Rev. Otura who is a Kenyan exile living in Ontario, Canada to find an American who had a sincere passion for "Tom Mboya and Kenya." Rev. Otura asked me to "reconsider Kenya." Rev. Otura assured me not to worry about the "insult from the Kenyan Embassy" and I should be prepared to meet with the "Luo Council of Elders" where President Obama's Grand Mother Sarah Obama was a member. Rev. Okoth Otura connected us with the "powers to be" in Kenya. This video is one among several we will produce as a means of promoting the Kenya homecoming celebration in July of 2016.
