Mark Cumming of eightfive2 ltd was asked by Deutsche Bank Hong Kong to manage the development of a large multimedia wall for their new Asian headquarters building in Hong Kong. The brief was to create and commission ever-changing video art and realtime data display, and the project broke new ground in the levels of quality, resolution and processing power in an installation of this type.

Mark selected to work with UK artist and designer Matt Pyke and his multi discipline consultancy Universal Everything on the project which took 10 months from brief to completion. The huge scale of the videowall (12m x 1.5m) with a resolution of almost 26,000,000 pixels, was beyond current graphic display capabilities. Therefore, in tandem with creative coders Field, the team developed a bespoke system of 8 x networked PCs generating realtime synchronised generative art content.

The project has gone on to be an industry leading case study for the AV consultants Shen Milsom & Wilke, and the commission has attracted significant interest from architects and developers around the Asia region.
