In 1977, humanity embarked on a voyage that took many hundreds, even perhaps thousands of years to prepare for. Although no human physically set out, two voyager spacecrafts were selected and shaped to serve as our eyes and ambassadors in the cosmos. Today, these two spacecrafts are the farthest man-made objects, in fact they are so far away that it takes 16 hours for us to send a message to them at the speed of light. After millions of years of being confined to a small rock, life has finally stepped outside and started to explore its neighbourhood.
Faisal Ahmad tells the story of the Voyager’s interstellar endeavor.
