Nick Nicolosi, The Sicilian Critic of Pizzacentric, examines rice balls from Joe's Superette, an Italian shop in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. Nicolosi's assessment of rice balls is informative and relevant to Italian rice balls anywhere. He knows how they should taste and he's not shy about his opinions.
Joe's Superette closed a couple years ago, but its rice balls have reappeared at Prince Street Pizza (27 Prince Street, between Mott and Elizabeth), which happens to be on the site of the New York's first "Ray's Pizza." The rice balls at Prince Street Pizza are, as they were at Joe's, fried to order - not reheated.
