'Once beloved as a fabled film theatre bringing international stars and dream-like escapist stories to local audiences, nowadays a temporary stop for new migrants, gathered between two cultures, in search of a new identity.
17, Carnot Street zooms in on three migrant families and their stories about a physical and mental journey in a glamour-faded microcosm.'
17, Carnotstreet will be my second feature documentary, a film on how migration affects on's personality.
In the ongoing debate on migration, identity and integration, migrants are always subject for discussion, but seldom take part in the discussion. Why not go back to basics, I thought, and ask migrants how a (forced) move from one society into another affects their (self) image and (self) esteem. 17, Carnot Street is about their story, their lives, their thoughts, fears and dreams.
