For many true jazz fans and historians, saxophonist and educator Odean Pope will always be known as one of the keepers of the rich legacy of the music going. Odean in addtion to playing and learning from iconic jazz masters John Coltrane, Jimmy Smith, and Max Roach, he continues to teach and still inspire many musicians today ranging from Joe Lovano to James Carter. He remains a staple on the Philadephia music scene while leading both his famous saxophone choir and trio.

Odean's latest In and Out Records release "Odean's Three" features his trio with the legendary Lee Smith on bass and Billy Hart on drums. Recently, Odean made his New York City debut with his trio in support of "Odean's Three" at the famed Blue Note Jazz Club. His latest recording showcases Odean's firey tenor style along with complex yet innovative compositions that his fans have come to love spanning some four decades. Plus, this disc also reunites him with his dear friend, Billy Hart, whom they used to collaborate and record with in a fusion group called Catalyst in the 1970's.
