A timelapse of half a night in the dome of the Blanco 4m telescope at Cerro Tololo (http://www.ctio.noao.edu). During these hours, the Dark Energy Survey (DES; http://www.darkenergysurvey.org) was taking observations with the new Dark Energy Camera (the black cylinder at the top of the telescope). DES will survey 1/8th of the entire sky over the next 5 years, with the aim to understand why the Universe's expansion is accelerating. Fortunately, other astronomers also get to use it (http://www.symmetrymagazine.org/article/astronomers-give-dark-energy-camera-rave-reviews).
In this video, Orion, Taurus and Jupiter are visible through the dome shutter at ~4-9 seconds. Moonrise occurs 7 seconds into the video. Unfortunately my camera's battery ran out about 1am... ;-)
