Given 24 Hours at CanJam2013 at University of Lincoln to create a game from scratch using c++/SFML and game artist tools such as 3dsmax and Adobe Photoshop myself, a game art design student at De Montfort University and 3 programmers also from DMU created this simple albeit polished 2D sprite based platformer entitled 'Atomic 32 : Uranium Madness.
The theme for the game 'Uranium Madness' was crowd sourced at the start of the 24 hours and we spent the entire time concepting and creating the game completely from the ground up. No game engine was used and no premade assets aside from an explosion gif that I didn't have time to replace [so tinted it green instead :P] We worked very well as a team considering none of us had met prior to participation and none had worked directly with artists/programmers.
Unfortunately we did not win any of the 3 top prizes at the competition [they all went to Lincoln Uni teams] which was judged by representatives from Rockstar and Crytek, but we did get an honourable mention and we are happy we were acknowledged for all the hard work we put in.
