Griz Days is Fernie's annual winter carnival celebrating all things snowy, including the infamous Griz, our mascot and main mountain man. It's said that Griz was born in a mountain cave, wrestled bears for survival and grew to be 8ft tall. It's him we thank for our wonderful powder snow- he fires his musket into the skies and down comes 29ft (annually) of the fluffiest, driest powder you'll ever hope to see.
So on the first weekend of March each year, it's only fitting that we get together for a big mountain party: events include the Extreme Griz Competition, Craft Fair, Baby Griz Crawl, Park Place Lodge Street Hockey Tournament, Parade, Fireworks, Downtown Dance Parties, Rail Jam, Rocky Mountain Lumberjack Show and the big finale event- The Raging Elk Dummy Downhill. Check out all the fun we had in 2013, it only gets better each year!
