This DVD front end was so seamless in its effects that some had no idea that it was totally done in After Effects, and that the falling pictures were not real. I won the Platinum Best of Show in DVD Interface Design from the Aurora Awards for the finished product.
All you see here is the very first menu, and not the linked ones. Truthfully this is all still photos processed via Photoshop and then After Effects. Lots of work in the Z Dimension of the 3D grid to get the shadows right. Also worked quite a bit with the lighting. That's fake too. Although it looks as if the desk lamp comes on, it really didn't. I had a natural light on the desk (no not the beer), and that gave the atmosphere, but for the "switch" to happen, I had to use a light in After Effects' 3D space. That program is very versatile.
